From Rateče to Tromeja

We set off from in front of the bus station in Rateče. The path leads us past the Church of the Holy Spirit to the center of the village. At the Žerjav Inn, we turn right and continue through the village (northwest direction). After about 500 meters of walking, we turn right onto a narrow path and continue along it to an unpaved cart track. Along the path, we can see information boards as part of the "Tromeja Tourist Trail". After about 500 meters, we turn right and follow the directional signs to the former Tromeja mountain lodge. Then we are offered two options. We can climb the narrow and steep, but shorter path to the top of Tromeja / to the top of Peča, which is the meeting point of the three countries of Slovenia, Italy and Austria, or we can continue along the cart track. We return along the same path.

SLEDDING and SNOWSHOEING

SLEDDING Winter brings many opportunities for fun activities for both children and adults! If you want to relive forgotten moments of childhood joy or simply relax in a slightly different way, sledding is the perfect choice for you. In addition to the sledding slope on the ski resort in Kranjska Gora, we also organize night sledding on groomed and illuminated sledding tracks. In Gozd Martuljek, you can find the first illuminated sledding track in Slovenia — a 2,500‑meter‑long run suitable even for families. You are transported to the top by snowmobiles or off‑road vehicles. If conditions allow, they also offer the possibility of night sledding. Awaken the child within you and ride to the top of the hill in an off‑road vehicle! Push off… and under the glow of torches, glide down the groomed and illuminated sledding tracks! SNOWSHOEING Snowshoeing has become an extremely popular way to move through snowy landscapes. Participants receive special “big feet,” which, combined with bindings that keep the heel free, allow unrestricted movement. With the help of snowshoes, you will stay on the surface even in deep snow, enabling you to explore yet undiscovered corners of the winter landscape. To make the adventure even more special, we take you snowshoeing when it’s already dark outside. With a headlamp and snowshoes, you can admire the sunset and the full moon on the snow — both of which are at their most beautiful in the winter wilderness. You will explore the wild natural surroundings in the area around Mojstrana, which is an ideal starting point for the valleys of Vrata, Radovna, and for the nearby natural attractions.

Radovna Valey

A Beauty by the Mountain Stream Zgornja Radovna lies within the area of the Triglav National Park, along the Radovna stream, into which waters from the glacial valleys of Krma and Kot flow. The valley is nestled between the slopes of the Pokljuka and Mežakla plateaus, covered with hummocky meadows filled with blossoms in spring and summer. Farmsteads are scattered throughout the valley, making even a simple walk through Radovna a unique experience. Visit the Gogala homestead, where a more than four-hundred‑year‑old linden tree stands. Continue to the Pocar Homestead, which has been transformed into an ethnographic museum with frescoes and authentic interior furnishings. Next to the Psnak homestead, you can see a well‑preserved Psnak apiary, and further down the valley are the Psnak sawmill and mill. If you still have enough energy after this walk, you can set off on a wonderful trip into the Julian Alps — nowhere else will you be this close to them. The old linden tree tells stories from long ago… Hummocky Meadows Meadows like waves of the seaHummocky meadows are a geomorphological phenomenon from the glacial period, impossible to overlook when visiting the Radovna, Kot, Krma, or Vrata valleys, as well as the areas of Bohinj, Pokljuka, and the Soča region. In Radovna, hummocky meadows remain only on individual plots, as they are increasingly levelled to make machine mowing easier. Thus, hummocky meadows survive only where mowing has long been done solely by hand — a practice still maintained at the Pocar Homestead.
